2010: Shelter

F1

Once everything was sealed and protected from the weather, we quickly made the place a lot more comfortable with a few sleeping bags, foam sleeping pads, cots, canvas chairs, and a propane stove. We had a functioning cabin! It still needed plenty of work, but now we had all the time in the world to do that work.

Going forward, the overall progress moved at a much more leisurely pace. We still worked hard, but we also took more time to relax and enjoy the delicious fruits of our labor. Mmmm…

Up to this point, the photo albums have included lots of cool action shots of people doing work. People tend to take lots of pictures when helicopters are flying around or major structural construction is being done. From 2010 on, there was a dramatic decline of the the work-in-action shots, with the exception of a few projects. People aren’t nearly as compelled to take pictures of things like installing insulation and wall paneling, tidying up, or assembling Ikea furniture. As a result, the remainder of the photos paint a very incomplete picture of the people that were involved in the work being done. Rather, they primarily reflect my own personal 20 Acres trips with various friends and family members, while also showcasing some of the overall progress that was being made along the way.

Based on the photos I’ve collected from the time, in 2010 it appears that we didn’t do much more than work on the trails, carry up insulation, and stuff it between the wall supports. I’m sure we did more than that, but that was several years ago and as you may know, my memory sucks. In any event, by the end of 2010, there wasn’t much more we could do until we brought up some more STUFF with which to do it.
