A FAMILY LEGACY

Over the course of several generations, my family, friends, friends of the family, and I built, maintained, and have greatly enjoyed two very comfortable cabins, firmly perched on an isolated cliff, nearly 2,000 feet above sea-level on the rugged Big Sur Coast.

The first cabin was built in the 1920’s and 1930’s. It burned down in 2008.

The second cabin is officially “done.”

Below you will find a very incomplete history of 20 Acres before the fire, a recap of the fire, and a quick and dirty recount of some of the work and fun that went into building a new cabin. If you want to skip the narrative and just see all the photos: click here (note: all photos are hosted on flickr).

Thank you Uncle Dick and Uncle Tim for helping me track down and organize these pictures! Thank you Vu and Syndicate Labs for the countless hours you spent designing and creating the back-end for the website, and also for hosting it!
